Fusion is Magic

Jonathan Edwards is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges floral design and hand-stitched quilts. Born and raised in Arkansas, his Southern roots and connection to nature have shaped his creative practice. After earning a degree in ornamental horticulture, Jonathan established his career in Southern California and later as a florist in Beverly Hills.

A pivotal moment in his journey was his introduction to Japanese floral artist Keigo Sato, followed by a transformative trip to Japan. Immersed in Japanese culture, Jonathan discovered new sources of inspiration that continue to influence his work. This collaboration led to the co-creation of Los Angeles Floral Company, where tradition and modernity converge.

Nostalgia is a driving force behind Jonathan’s designs, from the hand-stitching of reclaimed fabrics to the fusion of American and Japanese craftsmanship. His pieces reflect a thoughtful blend of past and present, creating works that are both functional and deeply personal.

Known for his thoughtful nature and famously good hugs, Jonathan infuses creativity and heart into everything he touches. At LAFC, his work becomes the purest expression of his artistic vision.

Intertwining Cultures

Keigo Sato, born along the tranquil shores of Hiroshima, Japan, grew up surrounded by a family deeply connected to green design—his father, a landscape designer, and his mother, a florist. His early years amidst the mountains, sea, and abundant plant life cultivated a lasting inspiration drawn from nature’s simplicity.

With a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Tokyo Agriculture University, Keigo’s path took a creative turn toward the hands-on craft of floral design. He found his calling in preserved flowers, an area where his expertise gained international recognition. His work has been showcased globally, with features and demonstrations in Japan, China, Korea. Hong Kong, and Russia.

For Keigo, the simplicity and clean lines of Japanese craftsmanship leave a powerful impression on his work. Similarly, his fascination with American vintage culture, particularly classic clothing and glassware like Fire King, shares the same minimalist aesthetic, though expressed through different techniques and materials.

At Los Angeles Floral Company (LAFC), Keigo intertwines Japanese and American craftsmanship, drawing from the rich cultural tapestries of both traditions. His designs, whether in florals or textiles, reflect a balance of simplicity and craftsmanship, inviting others to see the beauty in what is different yet timeless.
